Express Entry is an online system that we use to manage immigration applications from skilled workers.
Express Entry provides a pathway to permanent residence for skilled workers in Canada or overseas. For potential skilled foreign workers, Express Entry will result in fast processing times of six months or less. Express Entry manages applications for permanent residence under these federal economic immigration programs:
– The Federal Skilled Worker Program
– The Federal Skilled Trades Program
– The Canadian Experience Class
Provinces and territories can also recruit candidates from Express Entry through their Provincial Nominee Programs to meet local labour market needs.
How the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) works?
This program is for workers who have the skills, education and work experience to contribute to the economy of a specific province or territory, want to live in that province, and want to become permanent residents of Canada
Each province and territory have its own “streams” (immigration programs that target certain groups) and requirements. For example, in a program stream, provinces and territories may target:
– Students
– Business people
– Skilled workers
– Semi-skilled workers
Family Sponsorship

– Canadian citizen or
– Person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act or
– Permanent resident of Canada
You could sponsor your:
– Spouse, Common-Law Partner or Dependent Children
– Parents and grandparents
– Adopted child
– Relatives
Caregiver Pilots Program
Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot
You may be able to apply for permanent residence through the Home Child Care Provider Pilot or Home Support Worker Pilot if you meet the eligibility requirements and have a job offer to work in one of these occupations. Through these pilots, you’ll get an open work permit to come to Canada and work temporarily. This work permit:
– is occupation-restricted (so you have to work in that specific occupation)
– doesn’t need a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)
– lets you get the work experience you need to be eligible for permanent residence
If you recently worked as a home child care provider or support worker, your experience may count towards your eligibility for permanent residence.
